Head Query

A head query is a short, high-volume search term — as opposed to a long-tail query — that accounts for a large share of total searches despite being a small number of distinct phrases.

Part of Search Intent

Head queries are usually easier for keyword search to match well, since they tend to correspond directly to common product names or categories. Because a small number of head queries can represent a large share of total search volume, getting them right has an outsized impact on overall search metrics.
